Chief of Police Michael Gugliotti

Michael J. Gugliotti joined the Waterbury Police Department in July of 1988. During his tenure he has served in the Patrol Division, Gang Task Force, Detective Division, Vice and Intelligence Division and as Aide to the Police Chief. He was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Operations in March of 2007 and had served briefly as the Acting Deputy Chief of Administration.
In June of 1995 he was promoted to Detective. In October 1997 he was promoted to Sergeant. He remained in the Vice and Intelligence Division as second-in-charge until July 2003 when he was reassigned as the Aide to the Chief of Police. He was promoted to Lieutenant in March 2005.
Michael has earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Mattatuck Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is recognized by the court as an expert witness on the topics of narcotics and illicit drugs. He and other members of the Gang Task Force were honored as Officers of the Year in 1993. In 1995 and 2006 he was also honored with Excellent Police Duty medals. Michael currently serves as President of the Police Activity League of Waterbury Inc.
