Waterbury PAL now accepting applications for the PAL/Taft Summer School Scholarships
Waterbury PAL is a non profit organization that promotes partnerships with youth, the community and law enforcement through educational, recreational and athletic activities. One of our many educational opportunities is our partnership with the Taft School in Watertown.
Waterbury PAL is now accepting applications for the Waterbury PAL/Taft Summer School Scholarships for Waterbury 5th, 6th and 7th graders. Several 5th, 6th and 7th graders will be selected to attend a day program at Taft this summer and two 7th graders will be selected to attend the full time overnight Taft Summer School program free of charge. Waterbury PAL currently has four PAL members attending Taft High School on Scholarships that began by attending this summer program. Applications must be submitted to PAL by February 14, 2014. For more information and to print out the application please visit the PAL website at www.waterburypal.org.
Below is a message from PAL parent Felix Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez's daughter Jalissa Rodriguez was a PAL member selected for the PAL Taft Summer program as a day student in the summer of 2012. After successfully completing that program, she applied and was accepted as a High School student at Taft and began her freshman year in the fall of 2013.
"The dream of attending Taft all began when Jalissa participated in the Waterbury PAL/Taft School Summer Enrichment program in 2012. This experience opened her eyes to new and exciting possibilities. The Taft School is a prestigious diverse community which helps each student develop their academic, artistic and athletic talents while embracing community service. Jalissa credits the Waterbury PAL for the extraordinary opportunity and encourages other Waterbury students to take advantage of this enriching program. You won't regret it!"
