Hi Friends, The Waterbury Police Department will host their 2015 Spring Citizens Police Academy, March 23rd through May 4th. This seven week program will be held on Monday evenings, from 6-8pm, in the department’s Training Division, located at 240 Bank St, across from Diorio’s restaurant. Participants will receive training in several areas, including overviews on Waterbury Police Department’s organizational structure and the function of the various police divisions. Participants will also tour the police department, while experiencing various hands on demonstrations. At the end of the seven week sessions, participants will also have the opportunity to accompany a police officer on a ride along. Applicants must be 18 years old and be a Waterbury resident, business owner, or active in the Waterbury community. Because of the sensitive nature of police work, a background check will be completed on all applicants, which includes a criminal history check, warrant check, and driver’s license status check. Applications can be picked up in the main lobby of the Waterbury Station, located at 255 East Main St, or at the Community Relations Division, 240 Bank St. Applications can also be obtained by calling your community officer at (203)574-6962, or email Officer Andrea Carr at firstname.lastname@example.org
. All applications must be returned to the Relations Division by March 31st, 2015, at 4:00 pm. Applications can be returned in person, by mail, or electronically. Class size is restricted to the first 20 participants, so return your applications asap!
